FACE DOWN TO THE LAND: FOUR BODIES: Project

Four bodies dressed in black.

Bare footed, they stand in a line.

In the front, is I.

One. Two. Three. Four.

Me, you, and us, together we are four bodies.

In silence we march, according to the pace of I.

We enter the space, and the counting begins.

One. Two. Three. Four.

That is the signal to start.

You were told to walk, stand, sit, and then lie down in the prone position.

But you are reluctant to make the first move.

You feel the floor and gaze into the space.

Where should I take my body? The counting continues.

A pressing beat telling you to make a move.

So you take your first step, and now you are walking in the space.

Now you have a new problem.

How do I stop? Where do I stand?

In fact, you begin to think a little more.

How long do I stand for before I sit down?

How long should I sit down for before I lie down?

One. Two. Three. Four.

Move. Stop. Sit. Face down to the ground.

(Intermissions of counting will be introduced by the counting body. When this occurs and when the other bodies are aware of the pause, they are to remain in their present position and wait to be move. If the counting resumes, the bodies are signalled to engage with the act of walking, standing, sitting, and lying in the prone position again.)
